FAQ's
Q. I see you are based in Kentucky. How does that help me when the insurance company I work for needs service in another area of the country.
A. We have service providers in several different areas of the country. We also have many service providers who are mobile and able to perform services wherever we are needed. As our members are independent business people, they do not have to deal with franchise or contract regulated boundaries.
Q. How much does it cost to join your association as a service provider?
A. There is a reasonable, yearly membership fee. These association dues will be used to run the day to day operations, pay office staff, maintain web sites, pay for advertising and pay for association supplies.
Q. What do I get in return for my yearly dues?
A. You get the benefit of all of MAA's affiliated partners as well as national exposure and the referral of business in your area. We also have several cost saving outlets for your business because we have the ability to buy certain things in volume.
Q. I want to sit at home and wait for the phone to ring to dispatch me on a call, is that possible?
A. No. This association is the newest thing to happen in the marine assistance market in 20 years. While we were able to get started with a major partner, your local business will still only grow if you work it, everyday. It will take some effort on your part to get the good news out there. If you want to sit and wait for the phone to ring we suggest you sell your equipment now and cut your losses.
Q. You stated there would be a end-of-year bonus program, how does that work?
A. Sign the non-disclosure agreement and we'll tell you!
Q. You expect me to join your organization, just like that?
A. Yes. Our association was started for your benefit and we are out there every day getting new clients on our member's behalf.
Q. I suppose you want me to paint my boat don't you?
A. Not at all. As long as it's orange, you won't have to paint a thing! But really, we would certainly prefer your towing vessels' to be orange, as a uniform color ties us all together, but it is not a requirement. It looks better than red or yellow! There will be space needed on the vessel for our authorized service provider decal, which designates you as a member of our organization.
Q. Do I have to maintain a radio presence in my area?
A. Yes. And you will be able to use the MARINE ASSIST name.
